Introducing TORQUEY: The right Torque for your Prusa XL Nextruder Nozzle

Maybe you’ve already noticed it. A moment of inattention, and you’ve overtightened the nozzle with the T8 on the Nextruder. You often don’t notice it at first, but only when the printer detects a blockage. You then get the error message: “STUCK FILAMENT DETECTED.”

Tightening too lightly can also lead to problems, such as layer shifts.

I’ve been searching for the correct torque for a long time, as Prusa hasn’t published an official value for this yet.

Several people have already contacted Prusa Support about this, and the responses have been completely different.
Here are a few screenshots:

So, which is correct? Is it 0.7nm, 0.25nm, or 0.3nm? Upon request, we contacted Prusa Support again, along with the screenshots. This is the response we received:

Now we finally have our confirmed value of 0.2nm – 0.3nm.

According to this statement, you should tighten it with finger pressure. However, this statement is very relative… Depending on the type of person, there’s a different understanding of what this means… 😅

To solve this problem, we’ve now released a 3D-printable torque wrench that allows you to tighten the screw to the recommended torque.

No more over- or under-tightened nozzles! Print it now for free:

We also have a variant for the screw connection between the nozzle and the hotend block. Prusa specifies the official torque value of 1.5nm for this. This is also included above.

PS: If you already have squashed Nextruder nozzles, there is an easy way to undo them (click me)
